Defense comes around for Wolverine girls in win over Trinity Christian
South O’Brien found itself trailing Trinity Christian 14-7 after the first quarter but the Wolverines flipped the script in the second. South O’Brien outscored the Tigers 15-1 to lead by seven entering halftime. The Wolverines held Trinity to just 11 points in the second half and captured the non-conference contest 43-26 December 6 at Paullina.
Lindsey Einck scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the victors in both categories. Reese Farquhar added 12 points, Abby Nelson eight, Abby Woodall three and Addison Hedberg, Chloe Hustedt and Cassidy Horstmann two apiece. Nelson supplied three assists.
The Wolverines made 15 of their 48 attempts to shoot 31 percent. Isolating the three point shots, South O’Brien was at 33 percent, going 7-for-21. The team sank six of 15 free throw attempts.
Hustedt swiped the ball four times and collected eight rebounds. Farquhar grabbed five caroms. The Wolverines turned the ball over 18 times.
