On Saturday, June 18 There Was Ceremony Honoring James P. Martin, The Last Civil War Soldier In Iowa Who Passed Away In 1949 At The Age Of 101. The Sons Of Union Veterans Of The Civil War (SUVCW) Have Had A Project To Place A Marker At The Gravesite Of The Last Soldier In Each County In The State. Mr. Martin Is Both The Last Soldier Of O’Brien County And The State Of Iowa So It Was Decided To Have A Special Ceremony In His Honor.
