South O’ Brien FFA Members participated in the Ag Biotechnology contest

Members from the South O’ Brien FFA Chapter participated in the Ag Biotechnology contest. Team members included Austin Negus, Gabe Moermond and BreLee Rasmussen.
FFA teams from 62 chapters participated in this year’s Career Development Event designed to provide the student an opportunity to display their agricultural knowledge and skills in the area of Biotechnology. The 237 individuals who participated in the event completed several activities including a general knowledge exam and an identification activity. The team members also collaborated in a team activity relating to biotechnology principles.
South O’Brien placed 49th with a Bronze rating. BreeLee Rasmussen stated “ We were able to study some of the ID before the contest which helped a lot. I enjoyed the ID portion the most because I was able to study for it and prepare myself. It was a bit confusing since it was our first time, but it was a fun contest to try.”
