Central Lyon uses fast start to win against South O’Brien
By Coach Heather Struve
South O’Brien played a much better game in the field tonight, committing just one error, but the Central Lyon bats were hot early and they held a 9-4 advantage after three innings of play. The Lions went on to win the game 11-7 June 13 at Paullina.
Brooklyn Edwards started in the circle and went just two innings. She gave up eight hits and eight runs, walked one and struck out one. Allison Griebel threw the last five innings and gave up three hits and three runs, walked two, struck out two and hit three batters.
The offense was lead by Ashlynn Gunnerson and Reese Farquhar, who both had big hitting nights. Gunnerson hit a solo home run, a double, and a single. She also had two RBI’s. Farquhar hit three singles and collected two RBI’s. Abby Nelson hit an RBI double. Jinger Nieuwenhuis also had a double and Lindsey Einck had a base hit. This was a game we could have won, but only scored in three innings of play, due to our bats not being consistent enough throughout the whole night.
