Marlene Boernsen of “Boernsen Bees” from Ocheyedan made the trek to Sutherland Thursday June 29. An estimated 31 kids came for the finale of the Summer Reading Program. Boernsen Bees keep bee hives throughout O’Brien County, harvest and sell the honey locally. Marlene brought several bee hives and fielded dozens of questions for the kids about life in a beehive and being a queen bee.
