South O’Brien tuned up for state qualifying by competing in the Sioux Central Coed Meet held May 8 at Sioux Rapids. The Wolverines scored 70 points to finish fifth in the meet won by the host Rebels with a 135 total. The meet was cut short by weather following the 1500 meter run.
Event winners were Takara Conley in the 800 meters and Maddie Johnson in the shot put. Karlee Warnke placed second in the long jump and teamed up with Camryn Strubbe, Avery Halverson and Taja Conley for a runner-up finish in the 4×200 relay.
A pair of relays came in third. They were the sprint medley of Strubbe, Kelsee Warnke, Karlee Warnke and Taja Conley and the distance medley of Strubbe, Kelsee Warnke, Halverson and Takara Conley.
Finishing fifth were Taylor Wulf in the discus along with the shuttle hurdle relay of Marissa Ebel, Abigail Nelson, Tatiana Conley and Hedberg and the 4×800 relay of Taylor Wulf, Reese Farquhar, Elodie Wilson and Tawni Wulf. Clara Larson was sixth in the shot put.
