Wolverines’ struggles to push runs across the plate continue against RSM
By Coach Heather Struve
Remsen St. Mary’s came to Paullina on Friday, June 3 with an undefeated record and got all they wanted from a feisty South O’Brien team. RSM ended up winning the War Eagle Conference contest 3-1, but it was anyone’s game. The loss dropped the Wolverines to 0-3 in conference play.
RSM scored first in the first inning. South O’Brien tied things up with a run of their own in the second when Annika Jenness doubled, stole third and came home on a passed ball.
The score would remain tied until the sixth when RSM got a run and added another insurance run in the seventh. In the fourth, fifth and sixth innings the Wolverines had their leadoff batter on second base with no outs and never got the runner past third base. We need to score those runs when we have opportunities. RSM is a great defensive and pitching team. Fuhrman held their batters in check for the most part. She gave up seven hits, three runs (two earned), struck out eight and walked one.
Payton Faquhar lead all Wolverine batters with a double and a single. Jenness had the double and scored a run. Karlee Warnke had the only other single.
