Mill Creek Park near Paullina on Saturday February 5 was the site of a fun day of winter games. The day was sunshiny, moderate wind and not too cold for an early February day.
Attendance is estimated at 150 – 200 people. A variety of birdhouse crafts in “The Lodge” were available for anyone to make and take. A “campfire” to roast marshmallows or make s’mores was available. Slingshots were used to toss tennis balls or snowballs out onto the frozen lake. Snowshoes could be used to walk on the ice and across the lake. Sled pulls were available for anyone wanting to get the idea of riding on a dog sled and human dog sled racing. Snow painting was fun where you could find snow, and ice bowling. Ice fishing was a popular event with Paullina Hardware providing live bait and even knotting the lines and Mark’s Pump Sales and Service donated the fishing poles.
Volunteers were Lynn Burmakow, Cody Celus, John Ferell, Teal Wilson, Eric Brown and Janet Van Engen. Eight door prizes were donated by Amber Wetherell.
