Wolves pull away late to top South O’Brien girls
Harris-Lake Park outscored South O’Brien by nine points in the fourth quarter to win 42-30 in a War Eagle Conference game played January 7 at Lake Park. The Wolverines had won the third quarter 13-10 to pull within three entering the final period.
South O’Brien made just nine of its 43 field goal attempts (21 percent) and committed 19 turnovers. The Wolves shot 33 percent (15-of-46) and turned the ball over 13 times. The Wolverines went 5-for-20 from beyond the arc and HLP was 4-of 18. There was also little difference between the teams at the foul line where South O’Brien went 7-for-14 and the Wolves 8-of-15.
Addison Hedberg scored eight points, Abby Nelson six, Reese Farquhar and Abby Woodall five apiece, Chloe Hustedt three, BreLee Rasmussen two and Lindsey Einck one. Nelson was the assists leader with two.
The top Wolverine rebounder was Einck with seven boards. Hustedt collected six rebounds, Nelson and Woodall five each and Rasmussen four. Nelson and Hustedt each made two steals and Hustedt blocked a shot.
