South O’Brien girls fall to undefeated West Bend-Mallard
West Bend-Mallard ran its record to 8-0 with a 54-23 win over South O’Brien January 3 at West Bend. The loss dropped the visiting Wolverines to 2-7 on the season. This was the first game back from the Christmas break.
The host Wolverines did most of their damage in the opening half with 19 points in the first quarter and 21 in the second. Their halftime lead was 40-9. The even second half saw each team score nine points in the third quarter and five points in the fourth.
Lindsey Einck tallied seven points and grabbed three rebounds. Abby Woodall also had seven points to go along with three steals and two rebounds. Scoring three points apiece were Addison Hedberg, Reese Farquhar and Chloe Hustedt. Abby Nelson recorded four assists. Hustedt came down with six rebounds, Farquhar four and Nelson three. Farquhar blocked two shots and Woodall one.
South O’Brien made nine of its 32 shot attempts to equal 28 percent. The team was 3-of-10 from deep and 2-of-9 from the foul line. The visitors were guilty of 29 turnovers.
