Sheldon/South O’Brien girls wrestlers take to the mat
Sheldon/South O’Brien got the girls wrestling season underway last week with a pair of events.
The Orabs took part in the Western Christian Girls Varsity Invite on November 19 at Hull. There were no team scores available. The lone wrestler from South O’Brien was Alena Villarreal who competed in the 155-pound weight class. In Round 1 she lost by fall to Ava Lake of Hinton in 1:08. That moved Villarreal into Round 1 of the consolations where her day ended with a loss by fall to Sioux Center’s Mariana Felipe in 1:33.
On November 23 Sheldon/South O’Brien was part of the 21 team field at the Ridge View Girls Wrestling Invitational held at Holstein. The Orabs placed 18th with 31 points. No South O’Brien wrestlers were among the competitors at this meet.
