The South O’Brien cross country season came to an end October 24 as the Wolverines competed in the State Qualifying Meet held at Holstein Country Club.
The boys were seventh in the team standings with 210 points. Only the first two teams qualified for state and they were Ogden, with a 34 total, and Sioux Central at 59 points.
Freshman Landen Davenport was the top finisher for South O’Brien, placing 16th. He was four places away from qualifying. Next were a pair of sophomores as Trayton Cobb finished 42nd and Corbin Warnke 44th. Rounding out the Wolverine contingent were four seniors. Bensen Rohwer placed 57th, Ethan Schwarz 74th, Caleb Buenger 85th and Bode Bailey 92nd.
Both of the Wolverine runners in the girls race were seniors as well. Hailei Wallinga finished 61st and Tricia Kilts placed 75th. Team qualifiers on the girls side were Alta-Aurelia, with a 49 total, and Sioux Central, which scored 51 points.
