Wolverines are run over by Sioux Central 32-8
South O’Brien kicked off the 2024-25 football season August 30 by entertaining Sioux Central in a non-district game at Paullina. The Rebels rushed for over 500 yards in a 32-8 win.
The lone score for the Wolverines came in the second quarter. Derek Paulsen caught a 60-yard touchdown pass from Jaden Kreber. Brady Riedemann ran for the successful two-point conversion.
The completion was just one of two passes attempted by Kreber. Riedemann was 10-of-17 passing for 94 yards with one interception. Paulsen caught a total of seven passes for 125 yards. Brody Van Beek added three receptions for 24 yards. South O’Brien averaged just one yard per carry on its 19 rushing attempts.
Jordan Jenness was the leading Wolverine tackler with 13 total stops. Gabe Moermond registered nine tackles, Teagen Bahrenfuss eight, Kreber seven, Riedemann six and Carter Halverson five. Paulsen forced a fumble that was recovered by Kreber.
