Harris-Lake Park gets shutout tourney win in Wolverines’ finale



South O’Brien saw its baseball season end July 6 as the Wolverines lost to Harris-Lake Park 9-0 in a Class 1A District 1 tournament game played at Lake Park. South O’Brien finished the year with a record of 5-18.
Harris-Lake Park scored four times in the first inning. Meanwhile, Wolves senior Javen Baumgarn was in the process of pitching a four-hitter. Brady Riedemann stroked a double for the Wolverines, while singles came from Damian Villarreal, Trevor Fiddelke, and Jaden Kreber. Walks were issued to Mitchell Enger, Ryan Fuller and Fiddelke with Ben Woodall and Fuller each reaching base on an error. Villarreal and Kreber each stole a base.
Woodall and Fiddelke pitched for South O’Brien. Fiddelke walked two batters and Woodall one. Fiddelke also hit three batters and recorded a strikeout.
Seniors saying goodbye to the Wolverine program are Enger, Fiddelke, Woodall, Willie Conley and Luis Salazar.
