Edwards gets win vs George – Little Rock

By Coach Heather Struve
Brooklyn Edwards went the distance on the mound and gave up seven hits, four runs (one earned), walked three and struck out eight to earn the War Eagle Conference win over George-Little Rock on Friday, June 14 in George. Eight strikeouts and only giving up the one earned run was big because we struggled in the infield a little bit with four errors.
South O’Brien only had five hits of their own on offense, but the difference of the game was that we had some good quality at bats and fouled off enough strikes to earn our way on base with six walks. We also had some very heads-up base running. We were aggressive, but smart as well. After a rough stretch of five losses the girls showed some enthusiasm tonight and got the job done to earn the win. Tawni Wulf scored three times off of a base hit bunt and two walks. Lindsey Einck hit a two-run single to get us on the board early and scored a run herself. Ashlynn Gunnerson smashed an RBI triple and scored a run. Jinger Nieuwenhuis and Edwards each had a base hit for the winning cause.
South O’Brien’s overall record is 7-9 and their conference record sits at 4-4.
