Wolverine girls struggle at golf Regional but Einck moves on

Central Lyon won the Girls 1A Regional Meet at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Hull on Friday, May 10. Central Lyon as well as runner-up Harris Lake Park advanced to the 1A Regional Final Tournament, which will be held on Wednesday, May 15, at Lake Creek at Storm Lake.
Sophomore Lindsey Einck from South O’Brien tied for 6th place individually, so she also advanced and will play in the Regional Final on Wednesday. Einck shot a 49 on the front, which set her up to get on the leaderboard. However, she struggled with the first few holes on the back, finishing with a 58. Her 107 was enough to tie Rysaiah Sitzmann from Gehlen Catholic, allowing both golfers to advance. Lindsey always seems to find a way to get on the leaderboard. She’s competitive and resilient and can compete with the top golfers in Northwest Iowa.
Even though the weather was the best we’ve had all season, the other Wolverine golfers faced a variety of challenges today and finished 5th as a team. We are a young team and have only four players to report scores, so they must all play well for us to be competitive as a team. Today wasn’t our day, and it was hard to watch our golfers struggle in their last tournament of the season. Hopefully, they will see it as a challenge to improve and work on their game this summer.
Sophomore Chloe Hustedt shot 133 to finish 23rd. Freshman Raegan Plagge placed 27th with a 152. Junior Shayli Johnson shot 155 and was 28th.
