South O’Brien was just one of many girls track and field teams which took part in the Lady Orab Invitational April 15 at Sheldon. The teams were divided into three classes. The Wolverines earned a second-place finish in Class C.
South O’Brien produced a pair of event winners with Camryn Strubbe capturing the long jump and Maeci Stevens claiming the 400 meter hurdles. Stevens also anchored the shuttle hurdle relay team to victory. Joining her in that winning effort were Marissa Ebel, Abby Nelson and Tawni Wulf.
Two other relays finished second. Avery Halverson, Addison Hedberg, Reese Farquhar and Strubbe ran to a runner-up position in the 4×400. The other number two finish was turned in by the 4×800 team of Farquhar, Elodie Wilson, Taylor Wulf and Abby Woodall.
In the 400 meter dash Strubbe was second and Farquhar fourth. Wilson placed fourth in the 1500 meters. The 100 meter hurdles event saw Ebel take fourth and Nelson fifth. Additional fifth-place finishes went to Tawni Wulf in the discus, Ella Menhusen in the 100 meters and Kelsee Warnke in the 200.
A third-place relay was the distance medley of Warnke, Stevens, Hedberg and Halverson. The 4×100 was fourth with Hedberg, Warnke, Halverson and Strubbe. Finishing fifth were the 4×200 combo of Menhusen, Amelie Wilson, Avery Logan and Chloe Cox and the sprint medley team of Hedberg, Amelie Wilson, Halverson and Warnke.
