Obituary – Lyle Wallin

Lyle W. Wallin Paullina, Iowa

Services for Lyle W. Wallin, age 81, of Paullina who passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Orange City Area Health System. His funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina with Pastor Marj Feltman, officiating.
Burial will be at the Wallin Family Cemetery, rural Paullina.
Visitation will be after 5 P.M. with family present from 6 to 7 P.M. on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.
Lyle William Wallin, the son of Carl and Ruby (Jones) Wallin, was born March 17, 1943, in Cherokee, Iowa.  He received his education in Paullina, graduating from Paullina High School in 1961.  After graduation he served in the U.S. Air Force.  Upon his return from the Air Force, he rejoined the Wallin family farming operation, which also included corn shelling, combining, and other custom work.  Lyle was united in marriage to Phyllis Larson in Geddes, South Dakota on June 13, 1970.  After their marriage, they made their home in Paullina and later purchased the Merle Ihle farm just north of town.  Lyle devoted his life to farming, raising livestock, and spending time with his family.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Paullina.
In his earlier years he enjoyed refurbishing toy tractors, trap shooting, and snowmobiling.  Lyle served a term as president of the O’Brien County Snowtrackers and was the first to operate the trail groomer in O’Brien County.
He passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024, at the Orange City Area Health System after a short illness reaching the age of 81 years and 14 days.
Lyle’s memory will always be cherished by his wife of 53 years, Phyllis; children Stacy (John) Funkhouser and Scott (Ashley) Wallin all of Paullina, Iowa; grandchildren Aaron, Kaitlyn, and Danielle Funkhouser and MaKenna and Jaelyn Wallin and Brendon Sullivan, along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ruby Wallin, and his brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Judy Wallin.
