FFA Leadership Job Interview Development

By Alex Griebel – South O’Brien FFA Chapter Reporter
South O’ Brien FFA member Ian Oliver participated in the FFA Job Interview leadership development contest this spring. This event was established to provide FFA members an opportunity to demonstrate their ability in completing a job application form, writing a letter of application, preparing a resume, interviewing properly, answering questions clearly, and presenting the proper impression.
Ian chose to be interviewed for a job as a diesel mechanic apprentice. Ian stated “ To prepare for the contest, I thought about what diesel shops are looking for in an employee. They are looking for someone who is hardworking, interested in mechanics, and someone who has some experience within the mechanics industry. Once I had a good idea of what I was going to say, it all just came down to being confident.”
Ian placed 1st at Sub-District with a Gold rating and advanced to Districts where he placed 3rd with a Gold rating, and is the alternate to state.
