Lucille L. Hasse


Lucille L. Hasse 88, of rural Paullina, Iowa passed away peacefully, Friday morning, October 27, 2023 in the Heartland Care Center at Marcus, Iowa, surrounded by her son and her niece, Mary.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Oakdale Evangelical Free Church in Meriden, Iowa.  Pastor Andy Brown will officiate.  Burial will be in the Liberty Township Cemetery at rural Meriden, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Services will be livestreamed on the Oakdale Evangelical Free Church website.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.
Lucille was born on January 11, 1935 to Otto and Edna (Stoebner) Herr.  She grew up on a farm near Tripp, South Dakota.  She married Duane Haase on September 5, 1958 at Tripp, South Dakota.  They moved to a farm by Meriden, Iowa and later to a farm by Paullina, Iowa. 
Lucille was a member of the Oakdale Evangelical Free Church.
She liked to sew, put puzzles together, and quilting.  She enjoyed cooking and baking and helping on the farm.  Lucille never forgot her 40th birthday was during the Blizzard of 1975. 
She was preceded in death by her father, Otto Herr and mother Edna (Stoebner) Herr; husband Duane, infant son Mark, sisters Ruth Balzer and Maydean Dewald, and brother-in-law Ruben Baltzer.
She is survived by her son, Brian Haase of Paullina, Iowa; brothers Wilmer (Wilma) Herr of Tripp, South Dakota, and Harvey (Maxine) Herr of Littleton, Colorado; brother-in-law Arlo Dewald of Parkston, South Dakota, and sister-in-law, Marlene Koehn of North Charleston, South Carolina; also many nieces, nephews, and friends. 
The family would like to thank Heartland Care Center for giving her such good care the last two years.
