Titans come from behind to defeat South O’Brien
Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire scored the final seven runs of the game to rally past South O’Brien 10-9 June 27 at Paullina. The Wolverines were holding on to a 9-8 lead in the seventh before GTRA scored its final two runs.
The Titans scored twice in the top of the first but South O’Brien answered immediately with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Each team added a run, the Wolverines in the second and GTRA in the third. South O’Brien enjoyed a five-run third inning to expand the lead to 9-3. From then on it was all Titans with two runs in the fourth, a run in the fifth, two in the seventh and then the final pair in the seventh.
Gabe Moermond was 2-for-4 at the plate with a double, a run scored and a run batted in. Ben Woodall singled, scored a run and drove in a run. Dain Moermond doubled and scored. Boston Riedemann had one hit. Mitchell Enger walked twice and scored two runs. Also scoring twice was Camden Stevens while Trevor Fiddelke and Damian Villarreal each scored one run. Brady Riedemann notched an RBI.
Dain Moermond started the game on the mound and went 5-1/3 innings. He surrendered eight runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts and three walks. Just three of the runs were earned. Stevens tossed 1-1/3 innings of relief, yielding two unearned runs and taking the loss. He allowed no hits but walked four to go along with one strikeout. Boston Riedemann threw one pitch to record the final out. The Wolverines were guilty of five errors.
