Von R. Kilts – Primghar, Iowa

Services for Von R. Kilts, age 77, of Primghar who passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon. His funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at the United Church of Primghar with Pastor Mike Cooper ~ officiating.
Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Primghar.
Visitation with family present will be from 5 – 7 P.M. on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Primghar. A Masonic service will begin at 7 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Von Roy Kilts, the son of Glen Virgil and Alma Louise (Wells) Kilts, was born on August 17, 1945, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Milford High School in 1963. On February 10, 1964, Von was united in marriage to Patricia Long in Arnolds Park, Iowa. After their marriage Von worked for many manufacturers, Berkley being one and a packing house. In 1973, he began his career in law enforcement working for Dickinson County as a deputy and then joined the O’Brien County Sheriff’s office as deputy until his retirement in 2003. After his retirement he worked for Bunkers Feed for 15 years. Von passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon reaching the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 5 days.
Von enjoyed a variety of hobbies that included hunting in Montana and Wyoming with family, he was on a pit crew for an Indy Car team that took him to three different countries, and he also raced Figure 8’s in Primghar. He was a member of the Primghar Jaycees, Fire and Ambulance Team and the Masonic Lodge. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren and great grandchildren being known as Bumpy Grandpa and Papa Beep.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia of Sheldon; two children and their spouses, Angie and Steve Smith of Sheldon and Aaron and Tracey Kilts of Primghar; grandchildren, Stephany Smith, Shane Smith, Amanda Wieman, Sawyer Smith, Patricia, Elle and Morgan Kilts; great grandchildren, Taija Hewett, Karma Smith, Weston Smith, Ray Lindgren, Theodore Smith and Josie Smith; one brother, Rick Kilts of Milford; also, other relatives and friends.
Von was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Windy Kilts.
