Douglas Geibe

Doug Geibe, age 68, formerly of Wall Lake, IA, passed away at his home on Monday, March 14, 2023. Douglas Kent Geibe was born on November 13, 1954, to parents Harvey “Dutch” & Bonnie (Schultz) Geibe, of Paullina, IA. Doug grew up in Paullina, and attended school there, graduating from Paullina High School with the Class of 1973.
After high school Doug was employed by Baumann Shows as a truck driver, ride operator, and maintenance supervisor. His experience trucking with Baumann led him to driving truck professionally. Doug drove 48 states, coast to coast, over a period of 30 years.
Doug married Becky Reinert in 1975. They later divorced. Doug married Brenda Wittenhagen from Mitchell, SD, in 1984, and they travelled seasonally with their midway games to county fairs and similar midwestern celebrations. This union was blessed with two children, Derek and Kyle. Doug and Brenda later divorced. Doug was blessed with another son in 1987, Wesley. In 1989, Doug met Brenda Rardin from Lake View, IA. Together they quickly became a family even bigger than The Brady Bunch. In later years, Brenda would often times travel with Doug in the semi, capturing the scenery with her camera as they crossed the country. He adored his large family and when he wasn’t on the road he was sure to spend every moment possible with all of them. Sadly, in March of 2013, at the age of just fifty-five, Brenda passed away. It would be just a year later that Doug would suffer a stroke, which forced him to retire from trucking.
Doug was an intelligent man who loved cars. He could skillfully rebuild motors & loved tinkering with and repairing automobiles. He had a collection of his own that he was quite proud of. He lived his life simply, yet to the fullest. Doug loved hard and anyone close to him knew and still knows that. He enjoyed reading in his spare time and loved anything having to do with history. He also liked to travel and loved his music. Doug was both a Yankee’s fan and major football fan. Above all, Doug was a devoted family man who loved nothing more than to spend quality time with his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Rest assured he is in Heaven above, admiring all of its beauty, fully recovered and free of any pain.
Left to cherish his memory include his sons, Kyle Geibe (Tiffany Peterson) of Wall Lake, IA, and Wesley Stevens of Estherville, IA; stepchildren: Felisha Schmitz (Pete) of Milford, IA, Ashlee Beyer (AJ) of Spencer, IA, Chris Rardin (Angie) of Nevada, IA, BreAnna Rardin of Ames, IA, and Jennifer Hess of Lake View, IA; grandchildren: Bria, Raven, Bodhi, new baby Redek Kent, Boston, Amelia, Peyton, Gracey, Liam, Deegan, MaKayla, Brooke, Bailey, Rylee, Brayton, Savanna, Nikki, Raina, ShaiAnn, Alyssa; eleven great-grandchildren; brother Jerry Geibe of Lake View, IA; and many other extended family members and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Dutch and Bonnie Geibe; son Derek Geibe; wife Brenda Rardin; and brother Robin Geibe.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View, IA. Visitation will take place ONE HOUR PRIOR to the service at the funeral home. The Celebration of Life will continue at the Speaker Park Shelter House in Lake View immediately following the service. Farber & Otteman Funeral Home of Wall Lake has been entrusted to care for Doug and his family.
