South O’Brien Referendum Passing Official

O’Brien County Commissioner of Elections, Barb Rohwer, provided an overview of the election results during the canvassing of the election on Tuesday March 14. She explained that out of the number of votes cast, 657 were needed to pass with the required 60%. The final tally was 676 yes and 418 no. She explained that out of all eligible voters in the school district just 36.67% voted. She also stated that there were no changes from the unofficial results to the audited results Friday. She said, “The machines worked perfectly!”
Answering a question of reported votes not counted she explained, “We had 2 ballots arrive late and 1 person tried to vote at the wrong precinct and would not go to the correct precinct.” She went on to explain that 1 person did not have a valid ID and that issue was not resolved in a timely manner. Notable she said, “Four out of five Clay County voters voted!”
