West Sioux boys snap Wolverine winning skein

South O’Brien saw its seven-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of West Sioux. The Falcons forged a 15-point lead after three quarters on the way to the 65-57 War Eagle Conference victory January 13 at Hawarden. The Wolverines cut into the deficit in the fourth quarter but came up short. South O’Brien fell to 8-3 on the season and saw its conference record dip to 3-2.
The Wolverines were outshot 39 percent to 31 percent. West Sioux was good on 22 of its 56 attempts from the floor. The visitors made 19 of their 61 tries. Each team had seven three-point baskets. From the free throw line South O’Brien was 12-of-28 and the Falcons 14-of-21. The Wolverines committed 10 turnovers while West Sioux was guilty of 13.
Ben Woodall drained five shots from beyond the arc and finished with a team-high 17 points. He also passed for four assists and grabbed eight rebounds. Hudson Oolman scored 13 points, had three assists, pulled down 10 rebounds and made four steals. Boston Riedemann added nine points and two rebounds. Willie Conley’s line included eight points, five boards and two assists. David Bottjen’s five points accompanied two rebounds and an equal number of steals. Sawyer Honkomp finished with three points, three rebounds and two assists. Dain Moermond recorded two points and five rebounds. Oolman and Honkomp each blocked a shot.
