Sheldon/South O’Brien crowned a pair of individual champions as the team took part in the Le Mars Invite January 14 at Le Mars. Finishing first in their weight classes were Josh Hoffman at 106 pounds and Jarrett Roos at 182.
A loss in his 1st Place Match gave Coy De Boer second place at 152 pounds. Zach Brinkman was fourth at 195 pounds and Tyson Getting finished seventh at 160.
Sheldon/South O’Brien scored 93.5 points to place eighth out of 17 teams. The team champion was Hinton with 206 points.
Hoffman pinned Spirit Lake Park’s Kyler Hagedorn, triumphed 16-1 by technical fall against Bryce Oostenink of Sioux Center and then won by fall over Evan Stahl of Hinton. Roos pinned both Blayne Tharp of Bellevue and Antonio Medina of Sioux City West. He then won an 11-2 major decision over Kishmar Eberline of Sioux Falls Lincoln. The 1st Place Match between Roos and Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley’s Jace Mulder was decided by decision with Roos winning 4-2.
