Primghar Council Approves Library Board Member
Primghar Council’s consent agenda included appointing Teresa Sikora to the Primghar Library Board. Marian Ginger has opted to resign. Seth Postma was also approved to serve as an ambulance driver.
Dawn Butler for FNIC, the company that carries the employee insurance and Bruce Mosier, representing EMC Insurance who carries the city’s property and liability insurance. Significant changes to the property and liability insurance is the cost. Mosier explained that property insurance rates are rising across Iowa due to the increase in phenomenal weather events and the rising cost for labor and building materials.
A public hearing date to consider the sale of 280 N Welch to Primghar Advancement Corporation (PAC) was set for July 13. PAC was offered a farmhouse at no cost if they’d move it. Covenants covering PAC lots require new construction only. If the sale of 280 N Welch is approved, PAC will move the farmhouse to the empty lot on Welch.
A stop sign ordinance was amended with the second and third readings waived. Westbound traffic on 1st Street NW and N McCormack Ave now must come to a complete stop.
