Unbeaten Remsen St. Mary’s dispatches Wolverines
Remsen St. Mary’s scored in only two innings against South O’Brien but it was more than enough as the Hawks, top-ranked in Class 1A, notched a 15-0 win June 15 at Remsen. The War Eagle Conference leader constructed a 10-0 opening inning and then ended the game with five runs in the fourth to run its record to 20-0 on the season. The loss dropped the Wolverines’ conference record to 0-7 and their overall mark to 1-12.
Jaxon Bunkers held the visitors hitless over the four innings. South O’Brien batters put eight balls in play but were unable to find any cracks in the Hawk defense.
The Wolverines threw a trio of pitchers at the home team: starter Kester Grimm, Dain Moermond and Ben Woodall. They allowed a total of 11 hits while striking out four Hawk batters, walking eight and hitting two. Individual stats for the hurlers were not available at press time.
