Cub Scout Pack Meet Wed. For Wiener Roast – The Cub Scouts will hold a pack meeting Wednesday evening, May 31, at 7:30. They will enjoy a wiener roast in the Sutherland Park.
Camp Fire Day Camp In Sutherland In June – Mrs. Bill Burns attended a Day Camp Training day at Boone at Camp Hantesa last Friday. She was appointed Site Director. There will be a Day Camp for the Camp Fire Girls in the Sutherland Park through the third week of June. It will be for one week. The plans sound most interesting and the girls are asked to make their own plans to attend and to contact Mrs. Burns as soon as possible. There will be a variety of crafts, each day’s activities will center about a different country, its customs, costumes and crafts. There is a need for workers to help at the camp, workers who can lend a hand for one day or more. Those who volunteer for the entire week will be paid by the Camp Fire Association.
Wayne Mugge Admitted To Honors Program – Wayne D. Mugge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Mugge, was one of 26 students recently admitted to the Iowa State University Honors Program. The program allows exceptionally capable students to develop individualized courses of study They are allowed to modify requirements in their curriculum skip prerequisites, engage in independent study and participate in special courses. To be admitted to the program, a student must have a 3.35 grade point and have completed two quarters at Iowa State.

Good News Singers Hold 1st Rehearsal – The Good News Singers will be holding their first rehearsal of the season. May 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the Methodist Church. It is an ecumenical group of high school and college age students from the Sutherland area. New singers are welcome. Last year the group gave several concerts including a trip to Goldfield and Iowa Falls. All music performed is written by group members. Leaders are Marcia Engelke and Deborah Fisch.
Jaycee Spring Cleanup Saturday – The Sutherland Jaycees’have announced a “Cleanup Before Memorial Day Campaign.” On Saturday, May 29, old furniture, appliances and any other items that cannot go into the garbage will be nicked up if placed near the curb. Anyone that needs help in moving the items should call Jack Youde, 446-3383, or Alan Vogel, 446-3741 before Saturday.
Bible School to Start at Methodist Church – The United Methodist’s Vacation Bible School will be held from June 1 to 5 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. All children from 3 years to 6th grade interested in attending are welcome.
Kristi Maurer Shows Grand Champion Steer – Kristi Maurer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Maurer, Sutherland, attended the Sioux County Steer and (Heifer Preview Show on May 20 in Sioux Center. Kristi had grand champion steer over-all. It was a Limousin-Chi cross weighing 1060 lbs. She received a trophy and $300.

LADIES BOWLING MEETING ON TUESDAY – A Sutherland Ladies Bowling League meeting will be held Tuesday, June 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the back room of Schmedlap’s Pizza. Persons interested in bowling on this league in the Sutherland Bowling Center are encouraged to attend as final decisions need to be made at this meeting.
COUNTY LEGION & AUXILIARY MEETING – The O’Brien County American Legion & Legion Auxiliary meeting will be held Wednesday evening, June 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sheldon Community Building. A potluck supper will be served.
CHRISTIAN ACTION COUNCIL T O MEET – The Christian Action Council summer banquet will be held Wednesday, June 3rd at 6:45 at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. Marlys Popma, Iowa Right to Life president, will be the speaker. For more information call 446-2119. Everyone is welcome.
FATHER PICK CELEBRATES 25TH ANNIVERSARY – An Open House will be held from 2-4 p.m. on June 7 at the Primghar Community Building honoring Father Anthony Pick on his 25th Anniversary in the Priesthood. Father Pick currently serves Sacred Heart Parish in Sutherland and its mission parish. St Anthony’s in Primghar. Everyone is invited to attend this most joyous celebration.
RUNGE REUNION TO BE HELD – The Rungc Reunion will be held Sun., June 7 at 2 p.m. at the Rosali Amcndt home at 103 West Washington in Sutherland. A 4:00 Potluck Supper will be held. Sec you there and please notify your families!
