Memorial Day breakfast – The Paullina Volunteer Firemen will be serving those delicious (Germantown made) • pancakes, whole hog sausage, scrambled eggs, orange juice, milk and coffee to everyone with an early morning appetite. Serving will be held on Monday, May 25 at the Fire Station on West Commerce from 7:00 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Voter registration for primary election – If you are a new resident to O’Brien County or have moved since you last voted, you must register before you can vote in the Primary Election, June 2, 1992. The last day to register by regular registration is Saturday, May 23, 1992. The Auditor’s Office will be open on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Weekday hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you wish to vote but will be unable to go to the polls on election day, absentee ballots are available to anyone who requests one in writing or comes to the Auditor’s Office. The Auditor’s Office will be open on Saturday, May 30, 1992, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for absentee voting.
MEMORIAL DAY ACTIVITIES PLANNED – Memorial Day services will be held throughout the area on May 25. Services will begin at the Paullina cemetery at 9:00 a.m. followed by a ceremony at the Germantown cemetery at 10 a.m. Services will also be conducted at Primghar at 10 a.m. and Sutherland at 11:15 a.m. The South O’Brien High School Band will be involved in several of the services.
Baccalaureate to be held Thursday evening – Baccalaureate services for the graduating South O’Brien High School Seniors will be held Thursday evening. May 21 at 7:30 p.m in the High School gym in Paullina. The churches that will be providing leadership for this years service are the United Church of Primghar, Zion United Church of Christ of Calumet, and the United Methodist Church of Sutherland. Anyone wishing to attend this special service is most welcome.

Lions Accepting Contributions for Lifeguard Fund – The Paullina Lions arc again accepting contributions from area residents to finance life guarding at Lake Paullina this summer Lion members will be at a table outside of the First National Bank on Thursday evenings during banking hours Please be generous as life guarding will continue only as long as these are funds available Patty Vincent has been contracted by the Lions Club as head lifeguard and will begin her duties on Saturday, May 29 She has a Water Safety Instructor’s Certificate and is well qualified to supervise safe swimming activities.
Sheriffs Office Investigating Thefts – The 0 Brien County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the theft of CB radius 8 track tape players and other auto accessories taken from vehicles parked at various business places on Industrial Road east of Primghar The thefts occurred some time between May 14 and May 15 Several vehicles belonging to various owners had auto accessories removed from their vehicles The estimated total loss was over $1000 with the investigation continuing.

PHS Band Will Participate In Memorial Day Program, May 29 – by Kathy Crouse The Paullina High School marching band will participate in Memorial Day activities on Monday, May 29. The band will play for the activities at both the Germantown and Paullina cemeteries. Then .theband will participate in the flag raising ceremonies at the Legion Hall. There will be no parade this year through the town.
