The South O’Brien Girls Golf Team faced West Sioux in the first meet of the season on Monday, April 4, at Primghar Golf Course. The Wolverines won by forfeit since West Sioux had only three girls on the team. The Wolverines carded a 242, which was a good starting point with two returning letterwinners and three new golfers.
Juniors Sam Wilbur and Whitney Einck return to the team this year and both earned medals in the War Eagle Conference dual. Wilbur earned runner-up medalist with a 53. Einck earned a 4th place medal with a 55. Sophomore Jinger Nieuwenhuis carded a 65 and freshman Addison Brueggeman shot a 69.
It was great to have some nice weather for our first meet. We got the first-meet jitters out and got the new gals some meet experience. I see some real potential for this group of girls. It is sure to be a fun season even with our small team.
West Sioux’s Brenna Reinking earned medalist honors with a 51, and her teammate Maddie Klocke took the 3rd place medal with a 54.
