Brueggeman medals for short-handed Wolverines
The South O’Brien Girls Golf Team faced Emmetsburg in a non-conference dual on Tuesday, April 5, at Primghar Golf Course. It was an extremely brisk and terribly windy night for golf, and the scores were an indication of that. However, it was good to get a chance to play with the weather outlook for the rest of the week.
Emmetsburg won by forfeit as South O’Brien did not have enough girls for a varsity team. Emmetsburg’s Kourtney Kogel earned medalist honors with a 63 and runner-up went to the E-Hawks’ Claire Kassel who shot a 66. There was a tie for 3rd place with three girls carding 71. After a playoff by handicap holes, South O’Brien freshman Addison Brueggeman took 3rd place, and Emmetsburg’s Kylie Iverson took 4th.
Wolverine head coach Kris Faust said, “We probably should have called it off, but the temp was 50 degrees at the time we needed to make the call.” She added, “I was proud of the girls for pushing through the elements to finish. It was great for Addison to earn her first varsity medal.”
