The South O’Brien girls track and field team was finally able to post some times, heights and distances this season. The Wolverines competed in the Lady Blackhawk Invite which was held April 1 at Hinton. South O’Brien placed fourth as a team with 75 points. The host Blackhawks scored 142 points, but were narrowly edged out by Kingsley-Pierson/Woodbury Central which compiled a 143 total.
Taking first place in the 400 meter hurdles was the Wolverines’ Taja Conley. Runner-up in three races was Willa Sickelka. She placed second in the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes. Two more second-place finishes were turned in by Grace Fuhrman in the discus and Karlee Warnke in the long jump. Abby Schreck placed third in the 100 meter hurdles and Maddie Johnson was fourth in the shot put.
South O’Brien brought three relays home in fourth place. Those relay members were Annika Jenness, Kenna Bauer, Warnke and Taja Conley in the 4×200, Taja Conley, Schreck, Takara Conley and Bauer in the 4×400 and Taja Conley, Fuhrman, Elodie Wilson and Takara Conley in the 4×800.
