Small Grain Silage for Beef Cattle Conference March 17
Participants may join online from home or attend a live webinar showing in Orange City
ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Livestock producers may view a live showing of the popular Silage for Beef Cattle Conference on Thursday, March 17 at the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Sioux County office in Orange City.
The conference focus is how to reduce costs and improve the feed quality of small grain silages. It is hosted collaboratively by ISU Extension and Outreach, Nebraska Extension, and Lallemand Animal Nutrition.
Topics include agronomic management, when to harvest, sorghum silage, fermentation analysis, fundamentals of harvesting, inoculants, and the economics of small grain silage in growing and finishing beef rations.
“The conference is being offered in three ways – in-person at Mead, Neb.; via livestream at the viewer’s home; or the downlink live webinar showing at the ISU Extension and Outreach Sioux County office,” said Beth Doran, beef specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach.

To view the downlink at the Extension office in Orange City, preregister to Doran at 712-737-4230 by March 14. There is no charge for the program in Orange City, except the cost of lunch. The program runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., but attendees may come and go, as needed.
