Points are few for Wolverine girls in loss to West Sioux
Offensive struggles hampered South O’Brien January 25 as the Wolverines hosted West Sioux at Paullina. The host team managed to score just five points in each of the four quarters and fell to the Falcons 56-20 in the War Eagle Conference game.
South O’Brien got eight shots to fall out of 39 attempts from the field. That resulted in 21 percent shooting. The Falcons had 60 tries at the basket, in part because of their 16 offensive rebounds. West Sioux connected on 23 of those field goal attempts to shoot 38 percent. The Wolverines were 3-of-21 from beyond the arc and 1-of-4 from the foul line. The visitors drained eight of 26 three-point tries and two of four free throw attempts.
Taja Conley, Abby Schreck, Samantha Wilbur and Marissa Ebel each tallied three points. Scoring two points apiece were Riley Draper, Alyssa Van Beek, Takara Conley and Tatiana Conley.
Draper grabbed four rebounds, made three steals and dished off for three assists. Takara Conley collected three rebounds.
The Wolverines were guilty of 13 turnovers. West Sioux turned the ball over 11 times.
