Alice G. Fintel

Services for Alice G. Fintel, age 91, of Paullina who passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at MercyOne Primghar Medical Center. Her memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina with Rev. Donald Meyer ~ officiating.
Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina.
Visitation will be held in the fellowship hall of the church after the graveside service.
Arrangements are under the care of the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.
Alice Was born November 1, 1929, in Des Moines, IA. The daughter of John and Mary Alice (Lewis) Tait. She was baptized at the Park Ave Presbyterian Church in Des Moines, IA on April 17, 1949.
She attended Park Ave Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines in 1947. She graduated from Drake University with a BME degree. She taught music in the Paullina Public School from 1951-1952. On June 29, 1952, she was united in marriage to Marvin Fintel at the Park Ave Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. They started farming in 1952 on the farm where Marvin had lived all his life.
Alice joined the Zion Lutheran Church and was confirmed in the faith on June 7, 1953. She taught piano lessons for many years, was an organist & choir director at Zion, accompanied many operettas at the Zion School & many high school students for competitions, including her granddaughters. She was a member and President of the Paullina Federated Music Club until it was disbanded. She also sponsored the Fintel Jr Music Club. She was an active member of the Zion Ladies Aid. She was an organist at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina from 1953 until she retired in 2015. She also gave piano lessons while in college, totaling 45 years teaching.
Alice enjoyed spending time with her family and attending many activities of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. The enjoyed playing the piano, organ, and giving lessons to her students. She enjoyed her flower gardens, bird watching m crocheting, cross word puzzles and cards, and board games. She especially enjoyed following the activities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Marvin (Paullina, IA) of 69 years, Daughter Kathleen (Tim) Drenkow (Melvin, IA) and Alan Fintel (Paullina, IA).
Grandchildren- Leshia Woodford (Redwood Falls, MN), Shonna (John) Keogh (Alexandria, MN), Nichole (Daniel) Fintel (Paullina, IA), Brandon (Amy) Merley (Clinton, IA), Brent Merley (Sheldon, IA) and Joshua Fintel (Cherokee, IA).
Great Grandchildren-Kaylee and Brenna Jacobs, Anna Van Riesen, Jack, and Sydney Keogh, and Emercyn Woodford. Step-Great Grandchildren- Bailey Woodford and Konnor Martin. 1 sister-in-law- Joyce Fintel, other relatives, and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, 2 half-brothers: William Tait and Charles McClain and 6 half-sisters: Jessie Newton, Nancy Bremmer, Winifred Tait, Helen Jorgenson, Ruth Fisher and Emma Kenoyer, 2 brothers in law: Vernon and Wilbert Fintel and a sister-in-law, Irma Fintel.
Following the committal at the cemetery, you are invited to join the family in the gym for lunch.
