Services for Jacqueline A. Rehder, age 86, of rural Paullina who passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Cherokee Regional Medical Center. A private family graveside service will be held at Liberty Township Cemetery in Calumet.
Arrangements are under the care of the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.
Mrs. Eugene (Jacqueline) Rehder passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Cherokee Regional Medical Center. Jackie was born in Sioux City, 1934 to her parents, Ben Thomas, and Margaret Seaton. She attended schools at Irving Elementary, Woodrow Wilson and Central High School in Sioux City, graduating in 1952. She attended business school in Omaha, Nebraska. Jackie was raised by her mom and an aunt, Joyce Wensel. She met her partner for life, Gene Rehder in 1953, while he was attending Morningside College. They were married at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux City on December 1, 1955. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2005.
When married, Jackie worked as Supervisor of Reservation and ticket counter at the airport for Braniff Airlines in Sioux City, AT&T Telephone Co. in Mitchell, South Dakota, HyVigor, Alco when living in Paullina. Gene and Jackie moved to the Herbert Kniese farm in 1963 and then moved to the Rehder home farm (est. 1884). Jackie remained there after Gene’s passing on August 16, 2008.
At one time, Jackie was an active member of Zion United Church of Christ in Calumet, Town & Country Saddle Club, Questers, Paullina Golf Club, Woman’s Federated, Home Group & 4-H Leader. Was “chair” of Save the Lake, raising money for Paulina Lake by-pass, with the help of Lester Menke and Lloyd Scherlin. Jackie started her own business Barnyard Antiques, located in Walnut, Iowa, and Paullina.
Jackie loved to garden, antiques and crafts. She was an avid reader and loved to cook. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s activities.
Four children were born of this union, at the Kniese farm. Becky (Jeff) Kuehl, Laura (Tom) Cody, Andrea Blowers and Paul (Jamey) Rehder. Ten grandchildren, Kelly Lange, Dustin & Hunter Kuehl, Ryan & Drew Cody, Marcus (Skylar) & Dani Blowers, Cole, Skyler & Makenna Rehder. Great grandchildren, Atlee & Davina, cousin, Melinda Freinberg, also other relatives, and friends.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene August Henry Rehder, mom, Margaret Chesebro, great grandchild, Trista Kay Heitritter, a host of aunts and uncles.
