Funeral services for Leland W. Koehlmoos, age 93, of Ruthven who passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021, at Ruthven Community Care Center. His funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. on Monday, June 7, 2021, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina with Pastor John Schuetz ~ officiating.
Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Germantown.
Visitation with family present will be from 1 – 2 P.M. on Monday, June 7, 2021, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.
After the graveside service, family and friends are invited to the Germantown Community Center for a time of fellowship.
Leland William Koehlmoos, the son of William and Metha (Richter) Koehlmoos was born on September 6, 1927, on the family farm near Germantown, Iowa. He received his education at St. John Lutheran School in Germantown. He began working on the family farm until he enlisted into the United States Army on March 19, 1946 and was honorably discharged on September 19, 1947. After he was discharged, he continued to farm on the family farm. In 1988 he moved to Jackson, Minnesota to be with his significant other, Geneva Barnett.
He and Geneva enjoyed traveling to Europe and across America with many casino stops along the way. Geneva passed away on November 2, 2019. Leland moved to the Ruthven Community Care Center in 2020. He passed away with family by his side on Monday, May 31, 2021, reaching the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 25 days.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Lorraine Grothaus of Primghar, Iowa, Roverda (Ron) Cullison of Paullina, Orrie Koehlmoos of Indianola, Iowa; Geneva Barnett’s four children; eight grandchildren; and twenty-three great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Einerwold of Sanborn, Iowa; also, many relatives and friends.
Leland was preceded in death by his parents, William and Metha Koehlmoos significant other, Geneva Barnett, siblings, Elroy (Mildred) Koehlmoos, Gerhardt (Barbara) Koehlmoos, brother-in-law, Darrel Grothaus and sister-in-law, Bev Koehlmoos.
