Celebrating Lutheran Schools Week

by Mari Radtke
The week of activity celebrated an education in the Lutheran faith. Thursday was a highlight day with a fun and informative presentation by Luke Winger. Winger is a juggler and inspirational speaker.
Winger’s show brought a sophisticated message emphasizing the importance of having a relationship with Jesus understandable to the youngest of audience members. At Zion-St. John, Luke’s story-telling mixed with the entertainment of the juggling and silly antics kept the interest of students as young as preschool.
Winger’s message of a relationship with Jesus was told through the story-telling of personal experience. His stories made it make sense.
Tools to develop and strengthen a relationship with Jesus advocated by Winger were simple, and highlighted in his life experiences: think, thank and tell. As he progressed through the tools his real life experience formed the basis of the story and how to use each tool. His story included his life as a cyclist. The tools progressed through the loss of his daugher while in China and included the importance of a world community.
Winger was entertaining and sincere. He was a great fit for celebrating Lutheran Schools Week!
A soup cookoff fundraiser accompanied the science and art fair that evening.
Other events through the week were Monday’s movie day, Tuesday’s Family Chapel followed by donuts and juice on Wednesday’s early dismissal. Friday was a day filled with fun and games.
