South O’Brien girls no match for fourth-rated Rebels
Sioux Central, ranked fourth in Class 1A, looked the part in dispatching South O’Brien 60-25 February 1 at Sioux Rapids. The Rebels raised their record to 17-1 while the visitors slipped to 4-15.
The Wolverines turned the ball over 34 times and were held to eight field goals in 39 attempts for 21 percent. Sioux Central went 23-for-52 from the floor to shoot 44 percent. The Rebels drained nine of 24 long-range shots while South O’Brien was 2-of-14 from beyond the arc. The free throw line saw the victors go 5-for-10 and the Wolverines 7-for-15.
Reese Farquhar scored 10 points, followed by Lindsey Einck with seven, Addison Hedberg with three, Abby Nelson and Marissa Ebel with two apiece and Abby Woodall with one. Farquhar was the assists leader with two.
Einck pulled down eight rebounds while Nelson and Farquhar each finished with six boards. Chloe Hustedt came away with four steals as Sioux Central committed 11 turnovers.
