A pair of wrestlers from Sheldon/South O’Brien won championships at the Siouxland Conference Wrestling Tournament conducted January 25 at Sioux Center. Finishing in first place were Jarrett Roos at 190 pounds and Josh Hoffmann at 126. This marks the first conference title for Hoffmann. Roos captured his fourth straight conference championship. In his opening match of this year’s event, Roos notched his 150th career win.
The milestone win for Roos was a pin of Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley’s Dominic Olvera. Sam Bockman of Okoboji/HMS was a victim by fall in the semifinal. Roos racked up a 15-0 technical fall victory over Sioux Center’s Brendan Lamfers in the 1st Place Match.
Hoffmann earned two wins by fall to claim his championship. He pinned Cael Schipper of Central Lyon/George-Little Rock and then Juan Ruvalcaba of Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley.
Devin Van Regenmorter was the runner-up at 157 pounds. Winning their 3rd Place matches were Mitchel Fischer at 165 and Landon Sietstra at 215.
Kolt Roos finished fourth at 175 pounds. Placing sixth were Dominic Rounds at 132, Cole Cox at 138 and Jack Leng at 285.
