Fourth-ranked St. Mary’s downs South O’Brien girls
Remsen St. Mary’s held South O’Brien to single digit scoring in each quarter and defeated the Wolverines 64-30 January 25 at Remsen. The Hawks, rated fourth in Class 1A, bumped their record to 13-0 with the win.
Abby Nelson and Chloe Hustedt each scored nine points for South O’Brien. Addison Hedberg tallied six points with Marissa Ebel, Reese Farquhar and Jaylah Jackson adding two points apiece. Ebel accounted for two of the team’s five assists.
The visiting team was 11-of-44 from the field for 25 percent. The Wolverines were good on three of 18 three-point attempts and five of six free throw tries. They turned the ball over 16 times.
Hustedt grabbed five rebounds and made four steals. Ebel and Farquhar each collected four rebounds while Nelson came away with two steals.
