Sheldon/South O’Brien took part in a wrestling quadrangular December 12 at Denison. The Orabs tied Denison-Schleswig, but the Monarchs were awarded a point based on tiebreaker criteria to win the dual 34-33. Sheldon/South O’Brien also lost to Sergeant Bluff-Luton 66-10 and to Cherokee 51-27.
Heavyweight Jack Leng went 3-0 on the day. He won an 8-3 decision over Denison-Schleswig’s Garret Plagge and pinned Sergeant Bluff-Luton’s Mario Rangel and the Braves’ Cole Comstock.
At 165 pounds, Mitchel Fischer won a major decision over the Warriors’ Logan Dunn and pinned Javier Medina of Denison-Schleswig. Fischer was also a winner by forfeit in the dual with Cherokee.
There were two South O’Brien grapplers who saw action. At 126 pounds, Dominic Rounds was on the short end of two decisions. He lost 10-5 to the Monarchs’ Jackson Graeve and 13-10 to Hayden Brown of Cherokee. Marshal Warnke lost all three of his matches at 132 pounds by fall.
