The South O’Brien FFA Livestock Judging Team traveled south to compete in the Monona County Fair contest.

Classes of livestock judged included Breeding and Market Beef, Swine, and Sheep. This ended up being one of the toughest contests the team has competed in in quite a while. The team members all had very good scores that would have placed them in many other events. However, the cut-off for placing in the top 10 individually meant a contestant could only miss a total of 10 points on this day.
South O’Brien’s teams placed 4th (Dain Moermond, Jasper Johnson, Eliot Boardman & Addison Brueggeman), 5th (John Puhrmann, Sarah Puhrmann, Drew Wittrock & Noah Wittrock), and 6th (Austin Negus, MaKenna Wallin, BreLee Rasmussen, & Will Stout).
Individually, Addison was very excited about earning the champion trophy and nearly registering a perfect score by dropping only 3 points out of 300.
South O’Brien FFA Advisor, Eric Kumm, did compete in the Adult Division again this year and also came away with a first-place trophy. Yes, there were other adults in the contest, but his main competitors (Jim and Carolee Kumm, and Sioux Center FFA Advisor Eric Koehlmoos) from previous years were not able to compete.
