A funeral service for Dr. Roger Heimensen, age 81, of Largo, Florida and formerly of Spirit Lake, was held Monday, July 17, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. Interment was at Lakeview Gardens in Okoboji.
Dr. Roger Dale Heimensen was born December 31, 1941, in Primghar, Iowa, the son of Henry and Mildred (Kruger) Heimensen. Raised and educated in Primghar, he graduated from Primghar High School in 1960, and then furthered his education at Palmer College of Chiropractic, earning his degree in 1964. Roger was joyfully united in marriage to Leah Faber on September 5, 1962, in Orange City, Iowa.

Roger and Leah made the Iowa Great Lakes Area their home for nearly fifty years as well as wintered in Mesa, Arizona for over twenty years. For the last two years they have resided in Largo, Florida. Roger and Leah were very proud to call the Iowa Great Lakes home and could often be found at Spirit Lake School events supporting their three children, boating in the Disc Jockey, and supporting the community as a whole. Roger loved cars and was a classic car enthusiast. An avid golfer, he enjoyed all the courses the Iowa Great Lakes had to offer. Spending time with his family and friends was his favorite; as many know, Roger never met a stranger! He was passionate about his work and loved how he was able to help so many people throughout his career.
Roger had a unique sense of humor, was a true gentleman and always the life of the party. He will be missed by many.
