Akron-Westfield picked up a War Eagle Conference road win June 9, defeating South O’Brien 15-0 in four innings at Paullina.
The Wolverines were out-hit 13-2. The two were a double by Dain Moermond and a single from Ryan Fuller. Gabe Moermond drew the only walk issued by the Westerners’ two pitchers.
The pitching loss also went to Gabe Moermond. He went 1-1/3 innings, giving up eight runs on six hits with two walks and two hit batters. Trevor Fiddelke tossed 1-2/3 innings which contained three runs on four hits with three walks and a strikeout. Ryan Fuller’s inning of work included four runs on three hits, a walk and two hit batters. All the Akron-Westfield runs were earned.
