Moermond and Negus Represent the South O’Brien FFA Chapter as State Delegates
Gabe Moermond and Austin Negus, both freshmen from South O’Brien, travelled to Ames with the many other FFA members from our chapter to attend the State FFA Leadership Conference.
Moermond and Negus had the honor of representing the chapter as state delegates. As delegates, their main responsibility was to cast votes for the new State FFA Officers for the upcoming year.
Along with serving as delegates, Gabe and Austin also competed in the state Greenhand Quiz. The quiz is taken by freshmen members and tests them on their knowledge of FFA history, facts, and leadership positions in their state. Austin earned a bronze rating and Gabe got a gold rating.
With this being their first time going to state convention, they both said that they learned a lot and had fun along the way. During a break, they also had a chance to walk around the ISU football stadium with their friends. Negus said, “I recommend this to other members because it is a good way to get involved and your time in high school goes fast.”
