The South O’Brien track and field boys earned a second-place finish at the Royal Coed Relays held April 28 at Marcus. The Wolverines finished with 141 points to come in just behind host MMCRU which totaled 153.
South O’Brien earned an even half-dozen first-place finishes. Individually, Jacob Van Lith won the high jump, Boston Riedemann captured the 110 meter hurdles and Willie Conley took first in the 400 meter hurdles. The three winning relays were the sprint medley of Van Lith, Cole Tjossem, Hudson Oolman and Conley, the distance medley of Van Lith, Riedemann, Oolman and Jaden Kreber and the shuttle hurdle relay of Grant Wagner, Brennan Billick, Brody Van Beek and Riedemann.
Conley finished second in the high jump and third in the 400 meter dash. Tjossem was a runner-up in the 100 meters. The discus saw Mitchell Enger place second and Jayven Miller third. In the shot put it was Josh Gnade third and Enger fourth. Damian Villarreal was third in the long jump as was Wagner in the 110 meter hurdles. The 4×100 relay came in second thanks to the efforts of Van Lith, Riedemann, Oolman and Tjossem.
