The South O’Brien girls track and field team was in the mix for a second-place finish at their own Wolverine Relays May 4 at Paullina. When weather called a halt to the proceedings following the 200 meter dash it was Alta-Aurelia with 77.5 points, Unity Christian with 77 and the Wolverines with 70. Sioux Central outdistanced the competition with 150.5 team points.
Maddie Johnson was the winner of the shot put event and Clara Larsen was the fourth. The discus saw Larsen place second and Tawni Wulf third. Takara Conley finished second in the 800 meters.
Third-place finishes were recorded by three relays. The 4×200 was made up of Karlee Warnke, Camryn Strubbe, Avery Halverson and Taja Conley. Strubbe and Taja Conley joined Kelsee Warnke and Karlee Warnke for the sprint medley relay. Teaming up for the shuttle hurdle relay were Marissa Ebel, Abigail Nelson, Tawni Wulf and Addison Hedberg.
