South O’Brien swept the top four spots in the girls throwing events on the way to a third-place finish at MMCRU’s Royal Coed Relays held April 28 at Marcus. In the shot put Maddie Johnson was first and Clara Larson second. Tawni Wulf claimed the discus, outdistancing Taylor Wulf. The Wolverines scored 121 team points to trail only Alta-Aurelia (157 points) and Unity Christian (150).
Kelsee Warnke, Camryn Strubbe, Karlee Warnke and Taja Conley teamed up to give South O’Brien first-place finishes in both the 4×200 and sprint medley relays. It was a runner-up finish for the quartet in the 4×100 relay. Also placing second was Karlee Warnke in the long jump.
Coming in third were Takara Conley in the 1500 meters and Taja Conley in the 400 meter hurdles. Relays finishing third were the 4×400 of Avery Halverson, Strubbe, Kelsee Warnke and Reese Farquhar, the 4×800 of Takara Conley, Farquhar, Taylor Wulf and Elodie Wilson and the distance medley of Maddy Friedrichsen, Marissa Ebel, Abigail Nelson and Farquhar.
